Buyer of Plants & Decorative Materials

Buyer of Plants & Decorative Materials in Boskoop

What are you going to do?

Do you have knowledge of plants, a feel for business, and do you know when you have a good deal in front of you? Do you enjoy interacting with growers, suppliers, and colleagues, and do you get energy from negotiating and making smart purchasing choices? Then this position with our client is for you.

As a Buyer of Plants & Decorative Materials, you ensure that the right products are available at the right time and under the right conditions.

You purchase plants, but are also responsible for the materials needed for the arrangements. Think of pots, baskets, decorative materials, and seasonal items. An important part of your work involves purchasing around All Saints' Day, Advent, and Christmas. These are periods when planning, availability, and clear agreements with suppliers are especially important.

You know the market, understand what is happening, and build strong relationships with growers and suppliers domestically and internationally. You negotiate prices, quality, and delivery terms, looking beyond just the lowest price. You make choices that are best for the organization in the end.

In this role, you work closely with colleagues from Purchasing, Sales, Planning, and Production. You ensure that supply, demand, quality, and availability are well aligned.

Your base is Boskoop and you report directly to the Commercial Director.

  • You draw up purchasing plans and make long-term agreements with suppliers.
  • You regularly visit growers and suppliers at home and abroad.
  • You monitor market developments, innovations, and price trends.
  • You process and verify purchase orders and supplier data in Exact.
  • You monitor appointments, availability, and timely deliveries.
  • You actively contribute ideas on how purchasing can be organized more smartly and efficiently.
  • You work closely with Purchasing, Sales, Planning, and Production.

What makes this position interesting?

You will have a broad purchasing role combining trade, plant knowledge, and relationship management. You will be in frequent contact with the market, be responsible for a significant part of purchasing, and have a direct influence on quality, availability, and results.

Not a position where you only process purchase orders behind your desk, but a role where you go out into the market yourself, negotiate, build relationships, and make commercial decisions.
